Parkflix: Drive-Ins Are Back, So Let The Nostalgia Roll!

Let’s face it, in the last 5 months life has changed drastically. And even though SA has moved toward a more normal way of life, we are all still rather hesitant to move away from our homes where we control the levels of caution and sanitisation. With this in mind, the organisers of Splashy Fen have created the ultimate entertainment solution which still allows you to be in control of your space and brings back tons of nostalgia from the ’90s. Parkflix has taken the age-old concept of drive-ins, brought it back from the dead, and tweaked it so it fits this new era that we have moved into.
For those of you youngins that haven’t had the pleasure of visiting a drive-in, these outdoor cinemas are a place where hundreds of cars park in front of a huge screen and you watch a pre-selected movie with your family, in the car. And, the best part is that the sound for the movie comes from your own car’s radio. You just have to tune into a specific radio station and voila!
You probably have a ton of questions about the venue, when Parkflix opens, and how much it costs. Well, here is what we know about Parkflix and where you can catch your next screening.

Where is my nearest Parkflix venue?

Movies will be screened at three different locations. The first confirmed venue is Mariott Parkflix, which will be at Suncoast Casino and Entertainment World. The Umhlanga and Hillcrest screening venues will be confirmed in the near future.

When do screenings commence?

The first screening will be at Mariott Parkflix, on the 13th of August. Further screenings and movie selections will be announced on the Parkflix Facebook page.

How much do tickets cost?

Tickets cost R220 per car of two people and include one popcorn and a still aQuelle water. Thereafter it costs an additional R50 per person. Snacks and refreshments will be sold on-site.
