Phoenix resident leads response officer to cable thieves

A Blue Security armed response officer stepped in to help a resident arrest two alleged cable thieves who had been spotted stealing cables from a property near a church in Phoenix.
Blue Security operations manager Brian Jackson said the officer was patrolling in Parthenon Street when a resident, who identified himself as a local church member, approached him for assistance on Sunday.
“Our officer accompanied the man to a local shopping centre where he pointed out the two suspects, who had housebreaking implements, a bush knife, pliers and a screw driver in their possession. He questioned the suspects regarding the cable theft incident, arrested them and handed them over to the Phoenix SAPS who attended the scene,” he said.
Jackson commended the officer and the police for their swift action which lead to the arrest. “When residents, security companies and the police work closely together as a team to fight crime, it sends a strong message to would be criminals that if they break the law they will have to face the consequences of their actions,” he said.
