Armed Response

A Pinetown motorist was lucky to escape armed hijackers unharmed in an attempted hijacking in broad daylight on Tuesday afternoon.
Blue Security operations manager Brian Jackson said the motorist had fled to the security company’s premises in Kings Road for safety, after armed hijackers attempted to hold her up outside a business premises in Sunnyside Lane at around 12.20pm.
“When the motorist arrived at the main entrance to the business premises, she noticed two suspicious men nearby and closed her vehicle’s windows. But while she was waiting for the gate to open both men, one armed with a firearm, ran towards her and started banging on the window on the driver’s side of the vehicle,” he said.
“She managed to reverse her car and drive to the safety of our premises. No injuries were reported,” he said.
Jackson said an eye witness saw the suspects flee the scene of foot before jumping into a grey Nissan Luvina in Crompton Street.
The second hijacking incident occurred in Krishna Lane yesterday afternoon. “Three hijackers, one who was armed with a firearm, held up the motorist as he arrived at a business premises to pick up a staff member at around 4.20pm. The hijackers forced him out of the vehicle, jumped in and sped off. No injuries were reported,” he said.
