Reaction officers ‘tackle’ crime in two recent arrests

The quick actions of two Blue Security officers lead to two seperate recent arrests being made, in the Morningside and Yellowood Park areas.
Swift response from a Blue Security officer, who swooped on a property in Hollander Cresent, led to a Morningside arrest this morning. Blue Security community and media liaison officer Andreas Mathios said an armed response officer received information from a member of the public that she had witnessed a suspect jumping into the property.
The incident occurred at around 10.50 am. “Our officer proceeded to the premises where he found a window to the house had been opened and a suspect hiding under a mattress on the property. The officer arrested the suspect for trespassing,” Mathios said. The suspect was handed over to members of the SAPS who attended the scene of the crime.
In a separate incident in Yellowwood Park, team work between community members and local security firms led to the arrest of two alleged housebreaking suspects. The arrests took place at around 6.52am. Mathios said the officers responded to the scene after a resident reported that suspects were attempting to enter her property early yesterday morning.
He said the two suspects had allegedly entered the property on Monday and stolen a spade and stainless steel sink from the premises before attempting to gain entry yesterday. “Our armed response officer and a member of another security company swooped on the scene and managed to spot the two suspects as they attempted to flee. Our officer tackled one suspect and the other security officer tackled the second suspect and placed them both under arrest,” Mathios said.
Members of the Montclair SAPS attended the scene of the crime and took the suspects into custody for further processing. Mathios commended the strong team work between the community, the police and the security firms. “We strongly believe in partnering with communities and working together with the police and other local security firms to fight crime in our neighbourhoods. We believe this strategy pays off as it enables us to make effective swift arrests to get criminals off the streets,” he said.
