Armed Response

Blue Security reaction officers were successful in tracking down and detaining a bilking suspect in Red Hill, north of Durban, in the early hours of Monday morning.
“The incident occurred when units were alerted to a motorist who had driven away from a service station in North Coast Road without paying for R600 worth of fuel,” said Blue Security community and media liaison officer, Andreas Mathios. “After CCTV footage identified the vehicle, its details were circulated to all units in the surrounding area. The abandoned vehicle was found in a street in Red Hill a short while later,” Mathios said.
“The motorist had fled on foot in the direction of North Coast Road and was soon apprehended by Blue Security reaction officers,” he said. “The suspect was detained and handed over to SAPS for processing. A case of theft is being investigated,” he said.
In a separate incident on Sunday a sharp-eyed Blue Security reaction officer recovered a stolen microwave oven in Silverglen, Chatsworth, and detained the suspect carrying it. “After the suspect could not provide a satisfactory explanation for the microwave oven the officer detained him and handed him over to a member of Chatsworth SAPS for further processing,” Mathios said.
