Business robber arrested after shooting at Pinetown response officer

Swift team work between a Blue Security armed response officer and the police led to the arrest of a suspect following a shooting in Pinetown at the weekend.
Blue Security community and media liaison officer Andreas Mathios said an armed response officer disturbed several suspects who had broken into a business premises in Roselle Road at around 8.50pm on Friday. “The officer spotted one of the suspects lying under a vehicle that was parked on the premises. The suspect jumped out from under the car and fled and the officer gave chase. One of the suspects fired a shot and the armed response officer returned fire.”
A SAPS police officer who was located at Pinecrest Centre at the time stepped in to assist the officer and they managed to arrest the suspect. “The suspect informed them that he had been operating with two accomplices on the premises, one of whom was armed,” Mathios said.
“Upon investigation it was found that the suspects had damaged a vehicle on the premises and tampered with the battery. They had gained entry onto the premises by damaging the perimeter fence,” Mathios said.
No injuries were reported.
