Armed Response

Firefighters had their hands full when Sunday night’s strong winds swept a runaway fire through the Kloof valley.
The runaway fire, which was believed to have ignited in Motala Heights, was carried through the Kloof valley and threatened the safety of nearby residents. Due to the uneven terrain and unpredictable wind bursts firemen, Kloof patrols and community volunteers battled the blaze for hours struggling to subdue it. Embers were blown higher up the mountain that started smaller fires on different fronts.
Their relentless work paid off, and the fire was eventually brought under control.
