Armed Response

A SAPS member was injured after being shot in the head during a New Germany shootout and rushed to hospital on Tuesday evening.
“Blue Security armed-response officers rushed to the supermarket parking lot after receiving a panic activation and was informed of the shooting,” said Blue Security community and media liaison officer, Andreas Mathios.
Pinetown SAPS were already at the scene. Sources stated that the victim had been shot in the head, by an unknown suspect, during a shootout in the parking lot.
“The victim was in SAPS uniform and driving his personal vehicle at the time of the incident but it is unclear whether he was on duty. He was transported to hospital by a friend,” he said.
“Six bullet casings were recovered at the crime scene but the reason for the shooting remains unclear. Although there were numerous bystanders present they were allegedly reluctant to relate what they had witnessed,” he said.
