Armed Response

Blue Security operations manager Brian Jackson said, “A resident in Hereward Road gave our officer a description of the suspect and he managed to chase down and arrested the alleged thief while he was still in possession of the braai stand,” Jackson said. “The braai stand was handed back to the resident and the suspect was handed over to the Umbilo SAPS,” he said.
A trespasser was arrested in Rosetta Road in Morningside on Saturday after he was seen derailing a driveway gate and fleeing the scene at 7.35am. “Our officer gave chase and arrested the alleged trespasser in Stamfordhill Road. Nothing was stolen from the property,” he said.
Jackson said the supervisor of a block of flats in Berea Road had arrested two trespassers and called the company to the scene to assist. “Durban Central SAPS attended the scene and the alleged trespassers were released on warning,” he said.
Jackson added that vigilant staff at businesses in Umgeni Road and Jan Smuts Highway had called the company to assist after they arrested three alleged shoplifters in two separate incidents. “The alleged shoplifters were handed over to the SAPS,” he said.
Jackson said the latest arrests proved that residents working together with security companies and the police could make a positive impact in the fight against crime.
