Armed Response

In a major win for community safety in Pinetown, the Community Police Forum (CPF), in partnership with Blue Security and Tracker SA, proudly unveiled a newly sponsored patrol vehicle over the weekend. The vehicle, which is an independently sponsored but jointly supported operation, is set to bolster CPF patrol visibility and enhance safety efforts in the Pinetown precinct.
The Pinetown CPF vehicle launch was more than just the unveiling of a branded vehicle—it was a symbol of what can be achieved when communities, security companies, and technology providers work together. The event brought together key role players from Blue Security, Tracker SA, SAPS, Metro Police, and the CPF, all united by one goal: to fight crime and build a safer community.
The vehicle, which will be operated under the guidance of CPF with operational backing from Blue Security and Tracker SA, is an example of effective public-private collaboration in action.
The launch was attended by a strong line-up of speakers and stakeholders:
Brett Beket, Community Manager at Blue Security, outlined the operational support Blue would offer to maximise the vehicle’s use on the ground.
Justin Bosse, CPF Chairperson, emphasised the importance of community collaboration and consistent patrol presence in crime prevention.
Fikile Buthelezi from the Department of Community Safety commended the joint venture as a model of strategic alignment between public service and private sector efficiency.
Col. K.S. Pillay (Vispol) and Capt. Dlamini (Metro Police) shared their support for the initiative, noting how additional resources like these contribute to improved police-community relations and faster response times.
Ed Munusamy and Vic Chitanand from Tracker SA, together with COO Duma Ngcobo, spoke on the role of technology in crime prevention and how Tracker will continue to offer logistical and intelligence support through their systems.
The CPF’s Vice Chairperson, Lynn Robson, also took the stage, reinforcing the need for consistency, communication, and community education in the long-term fight against crime.
This community safety initiative comes at a crucial time. As crime trends evolve, communities must evolve with them. Having a dedicated vehicle on patrol sends a powerful message to criminals: residents are watching, partners are aligned, and crime will not go unchecked.
The vehicle will assist CPF members with community patrols, visible policing efforts, and faster incident reporting. With the added support of Blue Security’s operational expertise and Tracker SA’s technology-driven crime data, the CPF gains access to a more proactive, structured, and informed approach to neighbourhood safety.

Community policing has always been a grassroots initiative, driven by the people who live and work in the area. But without practical tools—like vehicles, radio comms, or data analytics—these volunteers are limited. This launch bridges that gap.
It is also a reminder that meaningful crime prevention requires more than just police. It requires buy-in from residents, NGOS, private security, and public safety departments.
This vehicle launch is the beginning of a larger effort to strengthen community-driven security in the greater Pinetown area. Residents can expect to see increased patrol visibility and quicker response coordination as the CPF, SAPS, and Blue Security tighten their operational synergy.
The project is a beacon for other areas looking to emulate this model. With shared purpose and coordinated action, safety becomes not just a service but a shared responsibility.
Stay connected with your CPF, volunteer when possible, and report suspicious activity through the right channels. Blue Security clients can also reach our Control Centre 24/7 at 031 717 5000 for support.
Together, we are stronger. And with partnerships like this, Pinetown is one step closer to safer streets for all.
