Stolen Toyota Cross Recovered After High-Speed Pursuit

Blue Security’s Tactical Command Centre received information regarding a theft of motor vehicle at a property on Fourth Crescent, where the client had observed approximately two to three male suspects tampering with a vehicle.
Upon the arrival of Blue Security North Tactical Officers, it was established that a white Toyota Cross, had been stolen from the property. The vehicle was fitted with a tracking device, and its details and live tracking information were immediately circulated to Blue Security Tactical teams.
The tracking information indicated that the vehicle was travelling towards the southern sector. Blue Security South Tactical Officers positioned themselves in the identified area while receiving continuous updates from the Tactical Command Centre.
The stolen Toyota Cross was subsequently spotted by Tactical Officers near Orient Roberts in Isipingo. Members initiated a pursuit as the vehicle travelled through the surrounding areas. During the pursuit, the suspects attempted to negotiate a sharp bend but lost control of the vehicle and collided with a light pole.
Following the collision, the suspects abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot into a nearby rural area. Tactical Officers conducted an immediate search of the surrounding area; however, the suspects managed to evade arrest and remain outstanding.
A search of the abandoned Toyota Cross resulted in the recovery of various tools and equipment believed to be associated with criminal activity. The items remained in the vehicle for SAPS to process as part of the investigation.
The recovered vehicle was handed over to SAPS, with KwaMakhutha and Amanzimtoti SAPS attending the scene. Tracker South Africa also assisted with the recovery operation.
The client was awaiting SAPS to open a criminal case relating to the theft.
The successful recovery demonstrates the effectiveness of Blue Security’s integrated Tactical Command Centre, live vehicle tracking, rapid intelligence sharing and coordinated response between the North and South Tactical teams.
