Armed Response

Swift teamwork by Blue Security’s Highway Tactical Team, armed response officers, Waterfall Neighbourhood Watch members, and Hillcrest SAPS, lead to the discovery of stolen weapons, a stolen vehicle and the arrest of three suspects, yesterday evening.
Blue Security’s Highway Tactical Ambassador, Russel Lawson, said that one of the company’s SNIPR Automated Number Plate Recognition Camera’s (ANPR) detected a hotlisted vehicle reported as stolen from Bellair, driving in the Waterfall area. The incident occurred at around 8:20 pm last night.
Two Waterfall Community Watch members spotted the vehicle whilst out on patrol, and with back up from Blue Security’s armed response officers they managed to block off the white Toyota Etios with the three suspects along Inanda Road. Upon inspecting the vehicle two firearms were found, including an AK 47 rifle and a Berretta 9mm pistol.
All suspects were taken into custody by SAPS and the firearms along with the vehicle were handed over to Hillcrest SAPS, who attended the scene, for further processing.

One of the key success factors of this arrest was the creation of a live incident reporting Whatsapp group created by Blue Security and the communities of Forest Hills, Waterfall and Crestholme Neighbourhood Watch groups. This IMC (incident management centre) group is directly linked to Blue Security’s control centre, which allows for the quick distribution of crime intelligence.
Lawson said Blue Security’s team is committed to working closely with the police and neighbourhood watch groups to assist with the arrest of suspects and proactive policing of the community. “We are confident that we can make a difference in the fight against crime by partnering with both the police and other local security companies as well as residents to stem the tide of crime and make our communities feel safe,” he said.
