Armed Response

Early morning patrols continue to prove their value in preventing infrastructure-related crime across Durban’s business zones.
On 18 June 2025, Blue Security deployed two Tactical Teams to conduct proactive patrols in the Clairwood and Jacobs areas, industrial hubs often targeted for metal and equipment theft.
During these operations, one of the teams spotted suspicious activity on Jacobs Road. A suspect was found in possession of an LED streetlight fitting, believed to have been recently removed from a nearby site.
The officers swiftly apprehended the individual and handed him over to SAPS Brighton Beach. He was formally charged with possession of suspected stolen property and now also faces additional charges of theft and malicious damage to infrastructure.
Public infrastructure, such as LED streetlights, plays a vital role in maintaining visibility and safety, particularly in business districts with high logistical activity. The theft or damage of this equipment can leave entire streets in darkness and expose surrounding areas to criminal threats.
“Our Tactical teams work around the clock to secure high-risk zones,” said a Blue Security spokesperson. “These arrests send a strong message that stealing from the community will not be tolerated.”
Blue Security urges business owners and facility managers to report missing or tampered infrastructure immediately to SAPS or directly to our Control Centre, so that further patrols and investigations can be coordinated.
