Why was the Summerveld Farm Watch initiated?
Summerveld has unique security challenges due to the rural and agricultural terrain and large properties in the area. The Summerveld team’s main focus, due to these large open spaces, surrounding bush and vast sugar cane fields, has been a very active reaction team.
Managing large open space areas is a massive challenge, so Blue Security was brought on board to assist with a comprehensive solution to the issues that the Summerveld community was facing.
Blue Security provides the members of Summerveld with a dedicated armed response vehicle that patrols the footprint at night. Residents identified that most incidents occurred at night and these strategically timed patrols significantly reduced incidents in the area.
How and where was the Summerveld Blue Zone initiated?
The Summerveld Farm Watch has been operating for more than ten years, as an organisation, with the main focus being safety and security. The strength of this project comes from the involvement of the community and the willingness of members to support the overall vision of this Blue Zone.
The Community Patrol Officer (CPO) patrols the area 12 hours every night and does not leave the demarcated footprint as this vehicle is exclusive to Summerveld Farm Watch. This dedicated vehicle ensures that members have much faster response times.
Currently, the members of this Blue Zone can see the safety benefits of having a dedicated vehicle and CPO patrolling their specified footprint and encourage the residents of the Summerveld to join the project to increase their security.
What security benefits do Summerveld Farm Watch members have access to by being a part of the project?

- Direct cell phone communication with the project vehicle for rendezvous meet-and-assist services.
Did you know that the dedicated vehicle extensively patrols the footprint and is auto-dispatched to respond to activated alarms thereby cutting down on valuable reaction times? As a subscriber of the dedicated service, you can phone the vehicle directly if you require an armed escort to your property.
Don’t you feel safer knowing that you have these benefits? Think about the worry and angst lifted off your shoulders knowing that there are feet on the street looking out for you.
