Armed Response

On Friday, 13 February 2026, Blue Security Tactical members were conducting routine patrols within the Pinetown CBD. While positioned at the corner of Anderson Street and Sunnyside Lane, members observed a male suspect carrying a large quantity of aluminium, copper pipes, and a roll of telecommunications cable.
The suspect was stopped and questioned regarding possession of the materials. During inspection, the cable was positively identified by a CPI investigator representing Telkom as essential infrastructure property.
The suspect was immediately apprehended and now faces charges relating to theft and damage to essential infrastructure.
The suspect was handed over to South African Police Service (SAPS) Pinetown for further investigation and processing.
This incident highlights the importance of proactive patrols, vigilance, and collaboration with infrastructure stakeholders in protecting essential services and preventing further damage to critical networks.
