Armed Response

When it comes to safeguarding neighbourhoods, teamwork makes all the difference. A recent suspect apprehension in Reservoir Hills perfectly illustrates how powerful a united community and an alert security team can be.
A resident in Varsity Drive, Reservoir Hills, noticed a suspicious figure at a property and quickly shared the information via the local community WhatsApp group. The suspect was initially described as wearing black clothing and was seen fleeing towards the M19.
Our Armed Response Officer (ARO) wasted no time and headed straight to the scene. Upon arrival, he received updated details and set off in the direction the suspect had taken. Not long after, he spotted a man emerging from the bush, carrying a bag and a stripped air-conditioning unit. Interestingly, the suspect had changed trousers, clearly trying to disguise himself.
The officer swiftly detained the suspect and called SAPS for support. The homeowner soon arrived and confirmed that the recovered air-conditioning unit and electrical cables belonged to him. It was revealed that the suspect had used a mat to cover razor wire fencing before dismantling and stealing the air-conditioning unit.
Members of the Neighbourhood Watch recognised the suspect from previous incidents in the area, further aiding in the quick identification and handover to SAPS.
This incident shines a light on the power of collaboration between proactive residents, Neighbourhood Watch groups, and professional security services. Together, they successfully prevented further loss and ensured the suspect was held accountable.
