Suspected Copper Cable Thief Arrested During Visibility Patrol

While conducting visibility patrols in the Punjab Circle and surrounding areas, Blue Security Tactical Officers received information from a fellow Tactical Officer regarding a suspicious man seen digging near a streetlight pole at the corner of Simla Street and Himalaya Drive.
Responding members immediately proceeded to the location, where they found the suspect in possession of digging tools and copper cable. Further investigation revealed that the nearby streetlight was no longer operational, indicating the suspected theft of municipal copper cable.
Wentworth SAPS was immediately notified and attended the scene. Following their investigation, the suspect was arrested, and the suspected stolen copper cable together with the digging equipment was seized and handed over to SAPS as evidence for further investigation.
The successful apprehension highlights the importance of proactive visibility patrols, vigilance and rapid response in protecting critical infrastructure and preventing infrastructure-related crime.
