Suspected Housebreaker Apprehended in Gillitts Park

On Friday, 21 February 2025, while conducting crime prevention patrols in the Gillitts Park area, Blue Security’s Ambassador identified a familiar individual linked to housebreaking incidents. The suspect, an African male known by name and appearance, was walking along Old Main Road towards Hillcrest CBD, carrying a black bin bag, a blue shopping packet, and a small cooler bag.

Sensing something suspicious, our Ambassador immediately called for backup from a Blue Armed Response Officer (ARO). Together, they successfully stopped the individual and questioned him about the items he was carrying. Unable to provide a direct answer, the suspect continuously changed his story, raising further suspicion.

Our Ambassador took photographs of the items and shared them with the Gillitts Park Neighbourhood Watch (NHW). A resident from Norton Avenue, Gillitts, who had recently experienced a break-in, identified some of the stolen goods as his. Additional items were later recognised by residents of Egret Lane, who had also reported a burglary earlier that morning.

The suspect was promptly handed over to SAPS Hillcrest and formally charged.

This successful intervention underscores the importance of community vigilance and swift response, ensuring that stolen property is recovered and criminals are held accountable.
