Suspected Vehicle Robbery Incident Leads to Safe Intervention in Umhlanga

A call was received reporting a suspect allegedly attempting to rob a pickup truck on Westridge Road in Umhlanga. Multiple Blue Security response units were dispatched and arrived promptly on scene.

Upon assessment, it was determined that the individual was not attempting to steal the vehicle. Instead, he was observed behaving erratically, climbing onto the back of the pickup, moving onto the roof, and sliding down the windscreen onto the bonnet.

Members identified that the individual appeared to be under the heavy influence of narcotics and posed a risk to himself and others in the vicinity. He was safely detained on scene to prevent him from running into traffic or causing harm.

While awaiting assistance, members monitored the individual closely to ensure his safety. The South African Police Service arrived shortly thereafter and transported the individual to hospital for medical evaluation and treatment.
