Armed Response

Blue Security armed response officers arrested two alleged housebreakers in Morningside after they used garden tools to force their way into the house on Friday night.
Blue Security community and media liaison officer Andreas Mathios said the officers responded to an alarm activation in Innes Road when they spotted two suspects running along the road. The incident occurred at around 11.50pm. “The officers handcuffed the suspects and took them back to the property where they had allegedly jumped over the fence and then used garden tools to force open the front door to gain entry. The suspects led the officers to where they had dumped a flat screen television that they had removed from the house,” Mathios said.
“The suspects were handed over to the Berea SAPS who attended the scene of the crime,” Mathios said.
Mathios said vigilant armed response officers also arrested two suspects in Reservoir Hills after the company received an alert that they were pushing a green bin, a cover that is often used by criminals to transport stolen goods, along Mount Batten Drive.
The incident occurred at around 4pm on Sunday. “We received a report that the suspects were pushing the bin and walking towards the M19. Our officer responded to the scene and confronted the suspects in Quarry Road near an informal settlement, where he discovered an air compressor inside the bin. He arrested the suspects and handed them over to the Sydenham police who took them into custody for being in possession of goods suspected to be stolen,” Mathios said.
Another suspect was arrested following strong teamwork when a housebreaking gang fled from a Bluff property by fence-hopping through the suburb on Friday afternoon.
