Suspicious Individual Apprehended for Trespassing in Winston Park

Area: Winston Park

Date: 4 May 2026

While conducting routine patrols within the Winston Park area, a Blue Security Tactical member observed a suspicious elderly male known within the Gillitts area.

The officer stopped and questioned the individual regarding his presence in the area during the early hours of the morning. A search was conducted, during which freshly cut wires and lighting equipment were found in the suspect’s possession.

The suspect claimed that the items had been found outside a nearby property. Tactical Command Centre assisted by contacting the resident linked to the address in question. Photographs of the recovered items were forwarded to the resident, who positively identified the floodlight as property belonging to her premises. The resident confirmed that although the light had recently been replaced, it had been stored within the yard and had not been discarded outside.

It was therefore established that the suspect had unlawfully entered the property and removed the items. The resident advised that she would discuss the matter further with her husband regarding opening a formal case with the South African Police Service. The suspect was detained on scene pending further investigation.
