Swift Apprehension After Robbery in Umbilo

Panic Activation Triggers Immediate Response  

The Blue Security Control Centre received a panic activation from a residence on Myrtle Road. A Blue Security Armed Response Officer was immediately dispatched. Upon arrival, it was confirmed that a robbery had taken place.

Suspect Gains Access Through Unsecured Gate 

The homeowner reported that a suspect gained access to the property through an unsecured gate. The suspect robbed her of her cellphone and attempted to flee, but dropped the device when the homeowner resisted.

Neighbouring Security Official Injured While Assisting    

A Security Official at a neighbouring property heard the disturbance and attempted to assist but sustained a head injury during the altercation.

Suspect Flees Scene and Is Later Spotted     

The suspect fled the scene and was later reported to be injured while attempting to escape. Despite his efforts to evade capture, he was later spotted on Umbilo Road.

Suspect Apprehended with Multi-Unit Support    

Blue Security Armed Response Officers swiftly located and apprehended the suspect at Umbilo Road. The Blue Security High-Risk Intervention Unit was also on scene to assist with the arrest. Umbilo SAPS attended the scene, and the suspect was taken into custody.
