Armed Response

A Blue Security Armed Response Officer was conducting a visibility stand-off near Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Hospital when he observed two adult males running past his position in a suspicious manner. While monitoring their movement, a member of the public approached the officer and reported that the same individuals had allegedly been seen stealing cables from telecommunications manholes in the area.
The suspects attempted to flee; however, the Armed Response Officer intervened swiftly and successfully detained both individuals. Additional support arrived from the Blue Security K9 Unit and Tactical members, who assisted with securing and searching the suspects.
During the search, various items were recovered, including:
Suspected housebreaking implements
A set of manhole keys
Two cellular phones
A hacksaw
Further investigation established that the suspects had allegedly caused significant infrastructure damage, estimated at approximately R300,000, by tampering with and stealing cables.
Members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) in Phoenix attended the scene. The suspects, together with the recovered items, were handed over for further investigation and processing at the police station.
This incident highlights the effectiveness of visible policing, rapid intervention, and coordinated multi-unit support in protecting essential infrastructure and preventing further losses to the community.
The coordinated efforts of the Blue Security Armed Response, Tactical, and K9 Units demonstrate a strong commitment to proactive crime prevention and community safety.
