Swift response help save life of 85-year old woman

Blue Security’s armed response officers have been praised for helping to save the life of an 85-year old woman who collapsed at the home of her family in Phoenix. Blue Security client, Mrs Chetty said her elderly aunt, a diabetic, who had been visiting the family at home, suddenly fell ill and collapsed unconscious at around 11pm on Wednesday last week.
However, she said the ambulance service the family had initially called had pushed them from pillar to post. “She was not responding. We called for an ambulance, but instead we were given another number to call and we were just passed on. Thankfully we remembered we have a medical button on our alarm system and we called Blue Security. Within three minutes they were at our house together with three ambulance services.”
Chetty said one of the armed response officers walked in – officers Colin George and Premchan Mohanlall had arrived at the scene –  and immediately comforted the family. “He took one look at her while family members were crying and he was so comforting – he said, ‘she’s going to be alright’.”
Mr Chetty said that within minutes paramedics managed to revive his aunt, who was then administered glucose at the scene as her sugar levels were dangerously low. She was not transported to hospital and had made a full recovery.
Mrs Chetty commended the armed response officers for their compassion and for waiting until the paramedics departed before leaving their home. “They were very comforting and kept telling us to call again if anything had to happen. We have no regrets joining Blue, we really feel safe again,” Chetty said.
Blue Security managing director Henk van Bemmelen commended the officers and the paramedics for their swift response to the scene. “We always respond swiftly to the scene of an emergency, but we often don’t immediately know the extent of the difference our quick action can make in a situation. We commend our officers for shining with kindness and compassion, and share the family’s relief that their aunt has made a full recovery,” he said.
