Armed Response

Location: Seaview Mall
Date: 13 February 2025
Incident: Stolen Vehicle & Armed Robbery
Blue Security was alerted to an armed robbery at Cash Crusaders in Seaview Mall. While responding, members of the Community Crime Prevention Unit (CCPU) received information that the suspect vehicle had entered the Umkhubaan area and had not exited.
Collaborating with SAPS MDOC members, and other security partners, Blue Security’s teams conducted a saturation operation in the area. One of Blue’s teams identified a vehicle matching the suspect description parked in a dead-end, with its licence plates removed.
Security teams moved in on foot to observe the vehicle and surrounding area, blocking any possible escape routes while awaiting SAPS assistance. Upon SAPS arrival, further investigation confirmed that the vehicle’s original registration corresponded to a car reported stolen in Umlazi in January.
SAPS conducted a thorough search of the immediate area for suspects and evidence, with Cato Manor SAPS and the Local Criminal Record Centre (LCRC) attending the scene. The vehicle was processed on-site before being transported to Cato Manor SAPS for further investigation.
This incident highlights the effectiveness of rapid collaboration between security forces and law enforcement in tracking and recovering stolen assets.
