Swift Response, Strong Partnerships: Suspect Arrested in Housebreaking Operation

Information was received via a social media platform regarding a confirmed housebreaking in progress at a residence in the Burlington Drive area. A Blue Security Armed Response Officer was immediately dispatched to investigate.

Upon arrival, it was confirmed that the suspect was still inside the premises, and additional tactical support was requested to assist with securing the scene.

Operational Response  

Members of the SAPS attended and were required to force entry by breaking a burglar guard to gain access to the property. Officers then proceeded to clear the premises and successfully apprehended the suspect inside the residence.

Further investigation revealed that the suspect had been cutting copper pipes from the geyser installation and discarding them at the rear of the property in preparation for removal.

Recovery and Arrest  

The suspect was placed under arrest and transported to Chatsworth SAPS for further processing. Recovered items included:

• Six copper pipes measuring approximately three metres each
