Armed Response

One of Blue Security’s tactical ambassadors was on routine patrol with colleagues in Hillcrest this morning when they spotted a minibus vehicle which had been circulated and noted in the area as a wanted vehicle that had been stolen during a business robbery just a couple hours before.
“Following from a distance, it was observed that there were six occupants inside the vehicle. The unit immediately called for backup from SAPS and a tracking company,” the Tactical Ambassador said. “When an attempt was made to pull the vehicle over to the side of Kassier Road, the driver disregarded the order, accelerated and headed in the direction of Shongweni Farmers Market,” he said.
“The suspects in the minibus began shooting at the armed tactical members, who returned fire. The minibus driver lost control of his vehicle during the high-speed car chase along Kassier Road and ended up crashing down an embankment into a dense bush. All the while, the armed suspects continued to shoot at the officers,” he said.
Backup arrived minutes later but the suspects had already escaped into the dense sugarcane fields. “An intensive manhunt got underway by various SAPS, Metro and K9 units. Another security company also joined forces by launching a drone which conducted an aerial search of the area. It was hoped that it would assist the law enforcement officers on the ground in to flush out the suspects, who were believed to be hiding out in the cane fields,” he said. Unfortunately the suspects manages to evade arrest. There were no reports of injuries or fatalities during the incident.
