Three Durban businesses targeted by armed robbers within 24hrs

Businesses were targeted by armed robbers in two separate incidents in the early hours of, yesterday morning.
Blue Security community and media liaison officer Andreas Mathios said that in the latest incident in Morningside, a gang of armed suspects held up and assaulted a security guard during a robbery. The incident occurred at around 5.25am.
“Four armed suspects arrived at the office premises in a silver VW Golf and held up the security guard at gunpoint. They forced him to open the driveway gate and then drove onto the premise, assaulted him and forced him to lie down on the ground,” Mathios said. “The suspects then forced open the doors to offices on the premises and fled with computers. The security guard did not require any medical attention,” he said. Durban Central SAPS attended the scene of the crime.
In an early armed robbery in Waterfall a gang of armed suspects arrived at a business premise in two vehicles and held up a security guard at gunpoint. The incident occurred just before 5am. “One of the suspects jumped out of a vehicle and held up the security guard at gunpoint, forcing him to lie down on the ground. The suspect handcuffed the security guard and the gang then forced their way into the premises. The gang ransacked one section of the premises and fled with high value stock from the property. No injuries were reported,” Mathios said. SAPS was alerted to the scene of the crime.
Mathios added that a gang of three armed suspects held up staff and a businessman in Umbilo at around 9.40am on Tuesday. “Three suspects, one of them armed with a firearm and two armed with knives entered the business premises and robbed a businessman and his staff of cash and a cellphone. No injuries were reported,” he said. Umbilo SAPS attended the scene of the crime.
