Vigilance and teamwork result in Toti arrest and recovery of stolen goods

Swift team work involving Blue Security armed response officers, the Amanzimtoti CCPO, SAPS and another security firm led to the arrest of a housebreaking suspect and the recovery of stolen goods this morning.
Blue Security community and media liaison officer Andreas Mathios said a gang of four suspects had derailed the driveway gate of a property in Minerva Crescent in Kingsburgh to gain entry at around 10.30am. “The suspects then forced open the kitchen door and security gate to get into the home. They fled the scene with a television, an Xbox and computer games in a white vehicle,” Mathios said.
A neighbour spotted a white vehicle leaving the scene and reported it to an armed response officer when he arrived at the premises. The officer immediately sent out an alert on the radio informing the CCPO and our officers to be on the lookout for the vehicle.
Mathios said armed response officer “MMM” spotted a white vehicle parked in a driveway, with the driver sitting inside, while he was patrolling Pine Crescent in Doonside a few minutes later. “He noticed that the driveway gate had been derailed and he immediately called for back up. The driver of the getaway vehicle, a white Hyundai, then drove away from the scene, leaving three suspects still inside the property. The armed response officer gave chase along with SAPS members and ET Security who had picked up the radio call for backup and eventually managed to block the suspect’s vehicle, forcing him to stop. The housebreaking suspect was arrested and taken into custody by the Amanzimtoti SAPS,” Mathios said.
Mathios said the other three suspects remained at large. “The three suspects fled the premises on foot when they realised that our officer had disturbed their housebreaking operation,” he said.
A flat screen television, an Xbox, games and two cellphones which had been stolen during the Minerva Crescent housebreaking were recovered from the vehicle.
