Suspect arrested after Toti mom presses panic button

A Blue Security armed response officer arrested an alleged housebreaker in Amanzimtoti yesterday.
Blue Security community and media liaison officer Andreas Mathios said the company’s armed response officer “Triple M” had swooped on the suspect after a resident in Arbor Lane pressed her panic button. The incident occurred around 3.50pm.
“The resident was at home alone with her baby when she spotted the suspect peering through one of the windows of her home. The suspect had jumped into the property and filled a white sack with the resident’s braai and aluminium pool cleaner, before opening a bathroom window in an attempt to enter the home,” Mathios said. “When the resident saw him she pressed a panic button and the suspect turned and fled the scene, taking the loaded sack with him.”
“The resident also provided us with a description of the suspect which we circulated while the armed response officer made his way to the scene. Triple M spotted the suspect running from the scene about a block away from her house. He managed to arrested the suspect. The Metro SAPS K9 Unit arrived and assisted at the scene. The suspect was handed him over to the Amanzimtoti SAPS,” Mathios said.
This is the second arrest in Amanzimtoti this week, with two wanted house robbers netted following strong team work between Triple M, CCPO and a local resident on Tuesday.
