Truck Driver Crashes onto Umbilo Business Roof after Losing Control

One of our armed response officers was despatched to the scene of an accident where a truck had crashed through a barrier wall, causing it to land on top of an office building, in the Umbilo area on Saturday morning.
Emergency services, including the eThekwini Fire department and the Rescue Division Unit arrived on scene after reports of an entrapment came through. It is alleged that the driver of the truck lost control of the vehicle driving through the intersection of Farimond and Sydney Road.
When rescue services arrived, the driver of the vehicle had fled the scene and at the time of reporting the cause of the accident was unclear. Fortunately, no reports of injuries came through and SAPS are investigating the incident.
