Two houses gatecrashed in Glenashley
Housebreakers gatecrashed two Glenashley properties within minutes of each other, fleeing with high end electronic appliances, jewellery and cash yesterday.
Blue Security operations manager Brian Jackson said a gang of housebreakers forced open the driveway gate and front door of a house in Lynne Avenue at 12.51pm and another property was hit in Adrienne Place just six minutes later. “The housebreakers fled the first property with two flat screen televisions and a computer,” he said.
Durban North SAPS attended the scene of the crime.
“Housebreakers ransacked a bedroom in the second home before fleeing with a television, a hi-fi, a laptop, a safe containing jewellery, cash and other items. It is not clear at this stage whether the incidents were committed by an organised syndicate but criminals are obviously presently active in the suburb and we urge residents to be high alert,” he said.
Jackson advised residents to remember to activate their alarm systems and to consider installing an alarmed electric fence and outdoor beams for an early warning of the presence of intruders. “An early warning system buys time helping to prevent a loss of property, as it gives criminals less time on site and alerts the security company early to their presence,” he said.
